Projects by Amanda & Melanie

Amanda and Melanie are working on creating support groups, free services, and education workshops at schools or events on sexual trauma. Your support would help both Amanda & Melanie with:

  • Providing free services to those affect by, domestic violence, sex trafficking and/or trauma’s involving sexual abuse through support groups or individual therapy
  • Educating clients about sex trafficking, sexual education at schools and events by spreading awareness of sex trafficking in our communities, what to look out for, and prevent targeted individuals from being victims in the future
  • Gain more experience on Narrative style therapy and TF-CBT which have been proven to significantly decrease PTSD symptoms along with depression and general/sexual behavioral problems
  • Partnering with schools, camps, law enforcement, and self-defense instructors

In our support groups, our clients would not only learn how to process their trauma, but also change their maladaptive beliefs, and learn how defend themselves through a self-defense class offered. If you are a survivor and would like to start your journey with therapy with individual or group therapy, click here to fill out the new client form.

The Comprehensive Care AP Scholarship Fund

Education can help pull individuals and families out of poverty, improve quality of life, and reduce stress and overall mental health. No one should have to miss out on educational opportunities and experiences because the family cannot afford for their student to participate.

Students who choose to take AP classes may not be able to afford to take the exam at $97 per class. AP classes are frequently viewed as “not worth taking” if the student is not planning to actually take the AP exam at the end of the year. Even if college credit is not earned with the exam having AP classes on a transcript can help students get into colleges. Earning credits toward college classes can also help reduce the financial burden of college on the student and family by reducing the overall number of classes a student might need to pay for in order to get their degree.

Things to know:

For the 2022-23 school year each College Board AP test costs $97. County schools may cover the cost of only one AP exam per student each year.  Upon close scrutiny the College Board website states there is financial aid available that could help reduce that to $35 per test however is not obvious from the home page and some families may miss out because of this.  Even the $35 per test can add up quickly if a student is taking multiple AP classes. Some families in our community just don’t have that extra $35.

School and Community Mental Health Seminars

Stacy has been presenting for teachers, school counselors, and parents in the community on various mental health issues. She is passionate about developing presentations that could help parents and teachers better understand the issues our young people are facing, what the audience can do to help, and the various levels of access for mental healthcare as well as when to utilize them. We would like to be able to make these presentations available in our offices, in school and community settings, as well as via TeleConference to  increase accessibility for busy families and allow opportunities for interpreters to assist all parents to access this information.

Projects by Tiffany

Tiffany is currently working on projects supporting Veteran groups and their families. Integration into civilian life is actually a long-term endeavor. Several Veterans voice feeling a lack of “belonging” and miss that special comradery. Due to the lack of these things, Veterans can either isolate or feel isolated from their community. Tiffany would like to create an environment that supports this need by creating free events and support groups to help Veterans and families stay connected to the community.

When Tiffany worked for the Department for the Army, there were several events held for active-duty members and their families to shake loose stress of the military lifestyle. Some of these events were couple specific.

Here are some ideas Tiffany would like to create:

  • Wellness retreats for Veterans and spouses. A weekend “getaway” to help couples stay connected, heal compassion fatigue, and encourage mental self-care.
  • Events that would be free to Veterans and families, which would encourage attendance. The purpose of these events would be to foster a sense of “belonging” within their community, help Veterans connect to other Veterans, and encourage mental health self-care.

Ideas for events:

  • A mock ruck march on Silver Comet trail with a playful “pack list” just like they would have gotten in the military. At the end of this ruck march, there would be a cookout for them and their families. We could have branches compete against each other for the “trophy” and possibly have prizes for the top 3 runners/marchers.
  • A day at the shooting range with cookout in the parking lot (similar to what you would see outside of a Harley Davidson on a weekend).
  • A competition/relay race where they would chop wood, load wood in wheel barrel, race, make a fire, change tires, etc. A fun, physical day where they get to “play” again essentially.

More justifications:

  • Honoring their past in service while embracing the future.
  • Facilitating events for these groups or individuals to meet up and express their need to connect with one and other. Expression of self, honoring both past and present.
  • Veteran spousal issues/ organized events, acknowledging the struggle of being there for their loved ones. Compassionate fatigue.
  • Partnering with the community and other like-minded organizations and expressing the importance of mental health in these communities.
  • Positive spin on mental health education.
